Library Services
Eligibility
- Tel Aviv University students, staff and retirees.
- According to the inter-university agreement, services are provided to students and staff from all the universities in Israel (Upon presenting a commitment letter from a home library.)
- Personal subscribers
Book borrowing is performed at the circulation desk with a valid student card/ staff or faculty ID card / any other required ID.
Visitors that aren't part of the university will pay entrance fees per visit.
Journals, dictionaries and encyclopedias cannot be borrowed.
Atlases can be borrowed for exams only.

Who can borrow books?
- Students, faculty member and management staff or retirees of TAU (upon presenting a valid university member ID card).
- Students and staff from all the universities in Israel (upon presenting a commitment letter from a home library).
Loan periods and borrowing limits
Students may borrow up to 8 books for a period of one week.
The system adds to the borrowed books an automatic extension for a period of one year at most, on condition that another reader did not order the book. The return date must be monitored using the DaTA system or the TAU-Mobile application.
If the library is closed, you can return the book to the drop box that is located at the entrance to the library.
If the book is too big for the drop box, leave the book with the Maintenance Team.
Please do not return books from the geography library to the Exact Sciences and Engineering library
Losses
Losing student card
In a case of a lost card please inform the library. The library will block the card in all university libraries, in order to prevent unwanted use of the card.
Lost books
A reader is obliged to report a lost book and will need to replace a lost book with a copy of the same book. The replaced book will be new or in mint condition and will be exactly the same as the lost book. You can purchase a new copy through the Exact Sciences and Engineering library. In addition, the reader will be charged with a handling fee and the fine that accumulated for being late in returning the book.
Fines
Borrowers are fined for not returning books on time.
The fine will be calculated from: 15:45 PM.
Amount of fine: 15 ILS a day per item.
Loan services will be blocked until the fine is paid.
Requested books
Requested book that was returned to the library will wait for the specific reader for a week in the librarian desk.
